Questions for RFP
Questions to answer per subsystem and subassembly. Use this list to flush out parameters, tolerances, and missing specs before or during RFP work.
1. Intake feeder system
- What are the full parameters and tolerances for the feeder body, 90° entry tube (with CIP nozzle), and external duct (oranges from hopper)?
- Top-level feeder: photos and Q&A for components not yet covered by the feeding subassembly?
- How does the feeder body interface with the enclosure and the extraction/sync fruit support?
Feeding subassembly
- CIP vertical cut-out for spray nozzle: when will it be added to CAD, and what are the exact dimensions/position?
- 90° pipe: confirm equivalent China-available standard (3″ NPS / 90 DN Schedule 5S, 88.9 mm OD, 2.11 mm wall) and supplier.
2. Extraction & synchronisation
- Fruit support: Confirm target 8° rail angle (vs current 3°) and any tolerance. When will this be updated in CAD?
- Fruit support pusher: Proceed with a formed component instead of cut/welded sheet? Material and form spec?
- Chute deflectors (WIP): Final geometry and mount details to avoid collision during motion? Material and manufacturability (bent plate)?
- Parameters and tolerances for driven bracket (yoke mount holes, alignment to static peelers)?
- Parameters and tolerances for driven peelers and central pin?
Fruit support (subassembly)
- Indexing slot spacing and tolerance for rail insertion?
- Connecting link: material and weld/assembly spec?
3. Transmission
- Yoke: full interface tolerance with cam bearings (drivetrain) and extraction/sync? Alignment to frame?
- 35 mm drive shafts and LMK35UU bearings: axial location, preload, and mount tolerances?
- Transmission mount plate: H7/dowel or other alignment to frame?
4. Collection
- 34 mm standard connector for juice collector Y-tube: exact part number or spec to send to manufacturer?
- Static deflectors (WIP): Final flat-plate geometry, mount to static loaded plate, and clearance vs chute deflectors? Material and manufacturability?
- Static peelers: mesh tolerance with driven peelers? Material and finger geometry?
- Filter tube: slot dimensions and tolerance for juice flow and plunger pass-through?
- Plug cutter: interface tolerance with plug ejection plunger and core chute?
5. Plug ejection / juice collection
- Plunger: stroke, diameter, and tolerance with filter tube and plug cutter?
- Plunger drive bracket and rods: interface with drivetrain/transmission cycle? 178 mm range confirmation?
- Juice outflow collection: routing, connections, and cleanability?
6. Drivetrain
- Sumitomo Cyclo 6000 reducer: Provide full specs (ratio, torque, mounting, shaft dimensions).
- WEG 22 1450 rpm motor: Provide full specs (power, frame, shaft, protection, terminal box).
- V-belt (DIN 2215 17×957, 2-belt, 1000 mm): tensioning procedure and replacement interval?
- Cam bearings: interface tolerance with transmission yoke? Lubrication and service?
7. Outflow / disposal
- Peel chute and core chutes: material (e.g. folded sheet), weld spec, and interface with collection/plug ejection?
- Augers: speed, torque, and interface with third-party equipment (Jiangxi line)?
8. Frame
- Loaded mount plate, transmission mount plate, drivetrain mount plate: final H7/dowel positions and assembly sequence?
- Leveling feet (6111K669 M24): confirm quantity and load rating for JX floor?
9. Enclosure / shell
- Overcentered hinges: The feeder, drivetrain lid, and plunger lid use overcentered hinges (open position when open, pressure down when shut). Springs and assembly method for these hinges are not designed yet — specify spring type, preload, pivot geometry, and assembly/fastening method.
- Plunger cover (#BC4944) and drivetrain cover (#489C26): confirm interface with frame and hinge mounting points; any gasketing or sealing when shut?
- Safety: lid switches (see Controls) and access for CIP/maintenance?
10. Clean-in-place (CIP)
- Nozzle positions at each peeler and at each 90° tube: flow rate and spray pattern spec?
- Pipes feeding CIP nozzles: routing, material, and connection to third-party CIP equipment?
11. Controls and electronics
- Yoke position / cycle: Encoder or other position detection for cycle and controlled stop — specify solution (TBD / needs further development).
- WEG W22 motor: spec sheet and integration with contactor/starter?
- Lid safety switches: quantity, position, and interlock logic?
General design and manufacturing
- Material for every component: confirm list per subsystem.
- Manufacturing method per part (e.g. formed vs welded for fruit support pusher).
- Fasteners: Full selection and assembly process per joint.
- Tolerancing: How will manufacturers achieve critical interfaces (e.g. H7/dowel)? Post-processing (ream, etc.)?
- CAD: Inventor → SolidWorks transition — what is the timeline and who owns conversion?
Third-party and site integration
- Jiangxi: confirm interface with Kaiyi or similar orange juicing line (feed in, peels/juice out).
- Equipment context: JBT Marel–style; assume Chinese equipment interfaces — any specific standards or connectors?
